Days Play

Values:  (1) we are one club - nine hole players and eighteen hole players all play together;  players opt to  participate in the nine hole game, the eighteen hole game or both on a given Monday.  (2) we strive to meet everyone so foursomes are randomly assigned without regard to whether they're playing nine or eighteen, low or high handicap, walk or ride or buddies.  (3) everyone has a chance to win  (a) a wide variety of games, (b) payouts to at least half the players each week, (c) payouts at least 75% based on net scores.

Nine hole competitions are scheduled Mondays at 9 AM.   To compete in the day's play competition you must be a club member and must play with another member on Monday.  If you are unable to play at 9 AM you may play earlier or later in the day.  However, it is your responsibility to find someone else to play with when you are not playing at 9 AM.   Eighteen hole competition is a continuation of play for those who wish to participate.   Depending on who they played with on the front nine and how many players choose to play eighteen that day, there may be some regrouping at the turn.  A member may choose to play at the scheduled group time and choose not to participate in the game of the day but is still expected to turn in her scorecard to the day’s play coordinator. A guest or potential new member may join us for play but is not eligible to participate in the day’s game.

Handicaps
To compete in the day’s game you must have a handicap. If you don’t yet have an established handicap please keep score, post your score and turn in your scorecard even if you’re not playing in the competition. There is no minimum or maximum handicap to be eligible to participate but we limit the handicap we use for competition at 27 strokes for nine holes or 54 for eighteen.  Even though handicaps are now updated each time we post, we will continue to use twice monthly updates for scoring days play.

Signup
Each Monday there will be a signup sheet to indicate whether you expect to be there the following Monday.  If you do not sign up on Monday you will need to email or text by 6 PM Wednesday to signup for the next Monday. You will not need to call the clubhouse. They will reserve tee times each week and we will confirm how many tee groups we will need after we get all the signups.  If you sign up but then learn you cannot come, please text or email as soon as possible; we may be able to move someone up in the groupings.  If you didn’t sign up but decide to come anyway, you will be assigned to the last group unless someone withdrew from an earlier group and you’re there and ready.

Notice of tee times. By noon Friday the tee times and groups will be posted to the club website  www.laurileesgolf.com\tee-times

Tee Times and Tee Groups
We do not assign playing partners based on personal choices, skill levels, cart vs walking, or 9 hole versus 18 hole play.   You will be assigned to a threesome-or foursome through use of a random list so you will have the opportunity to meet more people. This might mean that you’ll be the only rider in a group or the only 18 hole player in a group.  In the case of a single 18 hole player in a group, someone from the group in front may be asked to wait for you to make the turn or you may be asked to wait for players from a group following you. We are attempting to be sure that we are one club and those who only play 9 holes have the opportunity to meet and play with those who play 18 holes.

Signing in - paying day’s play fees.
To participate in the nine hole day’s play competition you must pay $2 in addition to greens fees  (plus an additional $2 if you want to participate in the 18 hole game).  Someone will be there to collect day’s play fees from 8:15 until 20 minutes before the last scheduled tee time.  If you arrive too late to check in with us or are playing later in the day you can leave the money with staff at the desk.

Scorecards and Posting Scores
When you finish, please post your scores as soon as possible and leave your scorecards at the desk.  If you play later in the day, please leave your scorecards at the desk and text or email the day’s play coordinator so she will know to collect your fees and scorecards.  Otherwise she might complete the game scoring without including you.

Competition Format
Each week there will be a scheduled game.  We have about 20 different 9 hole games and 30 different 18 hole games.  For more information click on the game formats tab below.

Game results will be posted on the club website.

Payouts are calculated each week allocating the days play monies collected that week. Monies collected for 9 hole competition are awarded to those participating in the 9 hole game and monies collected for 18 hole competition are awarded to those participating in the 18 hole game.   There is no hard and fast schedule for the allocation but there are several guidelines intended to assure that all members have an opportunity to win.  (1) payouts will go to approximately half the participants in a given week and (2) there will be more emphasis on net scores than on gross. Using those two guidelines, the current payout schedule pays only on net when ten or fewer women participate. When there are more than ten participants we pay 1/3 of the prize money for gross scores.  If a score qualifies for both net or gross, they receive whichever payout is larger.  However, to avoid a situation where a low handicap person may score a low gross score but still play poorly relative to her handicap, we will not reward any gross score that results in a net score higher than the lowest net paid. In that case, we move part of the prize money back from gross and pay more places net.

Guests
Any Club member may invite a guest to participate in a Day’s Play event providing that the guest has paid the appropriate greens fees.  Guests are limited to three Mondays per year and are not eligible to participate in the Day’s Play competition for prize monies.
